Group revenues at UTV Media plc grew by 7% in the first three months of the year compared to a year earlier, the business said.

The group saw overall revenue grow to £29.7m, with television experiencing the healthiest growth, at 25%.

But revenue fell by 10% to £4.65m in its Radio Ireland division.

Revenues at its Radio Great Britain division - which includes TALKSport - were steady at £13.276m.

Earlier this year the company said losses at new TV station UTV Ireland would be double the anticipated sum at £6m.

Its 10pm news programme has been attracting less than 60,000 viewers, while the 6.30pm bulletin was reaching just 29,000 people at the end of March. The channel launched a flagship chatshow, Pat Kenny in the Round, earlier this week, with its first programme, an interview with former GAA Tyrone manager Mickey Harte, attracting 33% more viewers.
