UTV plc has announced the merger of its digital marketing agencies, Simply Zesty and Tibus Digital.

The media giant, one of Northern Ireland's few listed companies, said the merger would go ahead without job losses.

Simply Zesty and Tibus Digital will form one company employing around 50, creating one of Ireland's largest digital agencies. It will trade as Simply Zesty.

UTV plc said the two arms of its digital business had been working together in the past year to combine their collective creative digital marketing and technology services across Europe and beyond.

A spokeswoman for the company said the new arrangement will not result in job losses and will continue to operate as before in both Belfast and Dublin.

Nigel Robbins, group commercial director of UTV Media plc, said: "This merger creates what we believe will be the largest digital agency on the island of Ireland and one with an accomplished track record and an impressive portfolio of first-class clients."

Ken Fitzpatrick, chief executive of Simply Zesty, said: "Clients are looking for a single digital agency approach that can provide both creative and technical excellence. We can now provide the full range of digital services under one virtual roof."
