HMV's brand value is music to buyers' ears

Good news for all fans of the High Street, of musical hardware and of nipping out for lunch and inadvertently coming back to the desk with the new album by a blind Malian couple who play gold-plated guitars.
The outpouring of goodwill which accompanied last week's news of the administration of HMV gave a little insight into how well the brand has stood the test time, despite the fact that the manner in which it offered its products didn't.
And now a restructuring specialist has pretty much taken control of the chain to try and help find a 'positive outcome'.
Whether that means shutting stores or refocusing their offering remains to be seen but with a rental bill which would take the breath away, it's one area the specialist will look at closely.
