It's gratifying to see great transformation recognised
Belfast has been confirmed as one of the best cities in the UK to live in, coming sixth out of 10 for desirability factors like life/work balance, commute to work, house prices and income.
The city was also singled out for the vast improvements in almost all aspects of life since the height of the economic downturn from 2007 to 2009. Over those grim couple of years, we boomeranged from boom to bust, and contended with the misery of redundancies, negative equity and bankruptcy (some especially unlucky people had to contend with all three).
But today's PwC/Demos report commends Belfast for its buoyancy and confidence. Many things which have come to pass in Belfast as we know it were inconceivable in 2007 - Victoria Square, St Anne's Square, Titanic Belfast, to name just a view.
Of course, no one would claim it's the perfect place, but it's gratifying to see Belfast's transformation given significant national credit.
