European Commission's Apple probe is hit with a delay

By Staff Reporter

The European Commission will miss a target to complete its probe into the tax affairs of Apple and three other multinationals in the Republic by the middle of the year.

Brussels has accused the Republic of striking a tax arrangement with technology giant Apple that was based on keeping jobs that gave the company an advantage that amounted to state aid.

The Irish government has repeatedly said that there is no case to answer regarding the tax affairs of the multinational firms.
