PayPal boss to discuss Bitcoin in keynote address at Belfast's Odyssey Arena
Digital currency and the end of carrying a wallet will be the theme of the latest top speaker secured for a business trade show in Belfast later this year.
PayPal's vice president of global operations for Europe, the Middle East and Africa, Louise Phelan, has signed up for the Smart Business Show at the Odyssey Arena in May.
In addition to being a non-executive director of Ryanair, Louise has won numerous awards.
Her keynote address – 'Money Makes The World Go Round; From Barter To Bitcoin' – will debate the future for money, virtually and digitally and show local businesses how to keep up to date.
Last month sources inside eBay told CNBC that it is considering allowing customers to use Bitcoin for payment for both eBay and PayPal.
The company hasn't yet made a decision, and is waiting for the regulatory framework to become clearer before it makes a final call, sources told CNBC.
Paypal handles £180bn a year in transactions and manages 143m active customers.
