Craigavon-based Moy Park is Northern Ireland’s largest food processing company.

Moy Park provides fresh, locally farmed and produced chicken and is recognised as one of the largest producers of organic, free-range and corn-fed poultry in Europe.

The company supplies leading retailers and foodservice providers throughout the UK, Ireland and Europe with a range of added value poultry products. It also supplies hatching eggs to a significant proportion of the European market and has supplied all organic chicken for the ‘Duchy Originals from Waitrose’ product range since June 2011.

Moy Park has been part of Brazilbased Marfrig Group since 2008 and employs more than 10,800 people across its 13 main production sites in Northern Ireland, England, France and The Netherlands. It has expanded its base in Northern Ireland, taking over the O’Kane poultry business in 2010, which has increased its poultry farming and processing capacity, milling capability and enabled the company to enter the turkey sector for the first time.

The company processes more than 200 million locally-produced chickens and over two million turkeys per year in its primary processing factories in Northern Ireland and England and works closely with over 600 farmer suppliers in Northern Ireland. Moy Park farmer Seamus Kane was awarded the UK-wide M&S ‘Champion of Champions’ award for sustainable and innovative farming practises in 2011.

In 2011, Moy Park extended the Moy Park branded range of fresh and breaded poultry and ‘ready to cook meals’ into Northern Ireland. The range has been hugely successful in the Republic of Ireland market and this success is now being echoed in Northern Ireland.

Moy Park has continued to invest in sustainability and waste management. The company now sends 95% of waste to recycling or re-use facilities and eight of its production sites have already achieved zero waste to landfill with the remaining sites on track to achieve zero waste by 2013.
