Almac has passed the landmark of employing more than 2,000 staff at its global headquarters in Craigavon.
2011 marked another record year for the pharmaceutical development company with turnover now at £275.5 million representing 10% growth on 2010 whilst pre-tax profit also increased to £18.6 million.
In 2011, Almac celebrated another memorable year as Senator George Mitchell officially opened its $120 million North American Headquarters in Pennsylvania on May 18. An additional 1,000 staff are based there. The year also saw the opening of its new administration facility in Craigavon which accommodates around 250 employees. Several other facilities in Craigavon are also undergoing expansion.
All of Almac’s business units, which provide an extensive range of drug development services, have experienced growth.
Quality standards have been recognised through accreditations from regulatory bodies and customers, and the company has won many business awards on both sides of the Atlantic, including the 2011 Belfast Telegraph’s Business Awards Outstanding Business of the Year. Almac continues to power forward with further expansion plans underway to grow its services, customer base and geographical presence.
