Founded by brothers Jim and Jack Dobson in 1976, the company has grown to become one of the leading meat processing companies in the UK. Headquartered in Dungannon, the company was formerly known as Dungannon Meats.

It now operates from 10 sites in Northern Ireland, England, Scotland, Wales and the Republic of Ireland. On average Dunbia processes 7,650 cattle, 57,500 lambs and packs 1,500 tonnes of fresh meat products every week.

The company acquired the Ballymena-based Stevenson & Co pork processing business in the January 2009, saving the plant from closure and enabling it to build its pork distribution business. The deal saved nearly 100 jobs and Dunbia then added 48 staff in Ballymena. The growth in the pork business then also created 44 jobs at Dunbia’s existing Dungannon facility.
