Halifax's office at Belfast's Gasworks on the Ormeau Road is one of the mortgage lender and savings provider's largest call centres.
During its construction in 2000 the £45m site was the largest new build of its kind in Northern Ireland.
HBOS was formed in 2001 from the merger of Bank of Scotland and the Halifax Bank.
It has since become part of the Lloyds Banking Group which is 43% owned by the taxpayer after the government was forced to bailout Lloyds following the merger with HBOS.
Lloyds managed to narrow its losses in 2012 to £570m, a sharp fall from the £3.5bn it recorded the year before. The losses were mostly driven after it was forced to set aside £3.6bn for the mis-selling of payment protection insurance.
