First Trust Bank is the trading name of the AIB Group (UK) plc in Northern Ireland.

The Bank offers a range of personal and business banking products and services delivered through its network of 48 branches, 155 ATMs, online and telephone banking facilities.

The bank has developed a specialist wealth management expertise in Northern Ireland and offers a private banking service.

AIB put First Trust up for sale in March last year and has had difficulty finding a buyer.

First Trust made a £52m loss between January and June, with its parent company reporting a €2bn loss.

In December, AIB received a €3bn bailout from the Irish government, which now owns over 90% of the company. In January of this year, AIB exited the Irish stock exchange and began trading on the Enterprise Securities Market, a junior index of the main Iseq.
