The clothes to household retailer has 19 stores in Northern Ireland including three standalone Next Home outlets. The retail chain was launched in 1982 but its roots go back to 1864 when gentleman’s tailors J Hepworth & Sons, was established in Leeds.
In January Next said full-year pre-tax profits would be between £540m to £555m. First half profits rose 15% to £213m with Next Directory, its online and catalogue service, contributing £101.3m, up from £83.3m. But it estimated that pre-Christmas snows cost it £22m in lost sales.
Like other high street fashion retailers, it is bracing itself for the impact of soaring cotton prices, with Next forecasting the price of its goods could go up by around 8% this year.
