Citi is a global financial services company. It has some 200m customer accounts and does business in more than 140 countries, providing consumers, corporations, governments and institutions with a broad range of financial products and services including consumer banking and credit, corporate and investment banking, securities brokerage, and wealth management.

The company set up in Belfast in 2005 to support its capital markets trading activities in London, Europe and New York. It now employs almost 1200 staff in four areas — capital markets trade settlement and reconciliation, trading systems development and support, technology infrastructure design and support, and a broad range of legal and compliance functions supporting both front office and external clients.

Citi is the main tenant in the Gateway Building in the Titanic Quarter and added another 40 employees over the last year, despite plans from its head office to reduce worldwide headcount by 11,000. And despite disappointing fourth quarter results for 2012, the bank was still one of the best performing of its US peers last year.
