The Charles Hurst Group is Northern Ireland’s largest motor retailer. The group also trades in the west of Scotland under the ‘Taggarts’ brand name.
Currently Charles Hurst operates from 11 separate geographic locations in Ireland representing 17 car and two motorcycle franchises, six tyre outlets, and an Accident Repair Centre. In 2010 the group expanded into the Republic of Ireland with their strategic acquisition of the Audi Centre in Ballsbridge, Dublin. That acquisition gives Charles Hurst access to one of Ireland’s healthiest new car sales regions, with an expected 1,500 new car sales annually.
The group is a trading subsidiary of Lookers plc and in March Lookers reported another record year of trading with its adjusted pre-tax profit of £33.6m up on the £28.3m from a year earlier. The company believes it is well positioned for 2011.
