Hastings Hotels owns six hotels in Northern Ireland: the Europa and Stormont in Belfast, the Culloden at Cultra, Slieve Donard in Newcastle, Ballygally Castle on the Antrim coast and the Everglades in Londonderry and also has an interest in the Merrion Hotel in Dublin. The company finished its capital expenditure programme for refurbishments in 2009 with the completion of new bedrooms at the Europa.
While turnover dropped slightly, likely down to the effect of the recession on tourism to Northern Ireland, the group incrreased ts pretax profit by continuing to work to reduce its overheads.
