The Wright Group is the UK’s top independent supplier of accessible buses for public transport. Founded in 1946 the family owned and manage company pioneered low floor buses in the UK and has in the last year mounted a concerted push into the green sector with energy efficient buses.
The manufacturer last year announced 235 workers would be made redundant after the loss of a substantial contract, but cost cutting measures and efficiencies meant that it was only forced to shed 100 jobs in the end.
In March the company said it is preparing for an upturn in the global economy with a £7m investment in research and development as it unveiled a new design of a double decker bus targeted at the Asian market. It also took orders worth £15m from Translink for new rural Ulsterbuses.
