2011 was a record year for the United Dairy Farmers Group, a farmer cooperative and the parent of dairy processor Dale Farm. Sales turnover was up 21% on the previous year with strong export sales growth and further expansion of the group into the Great Britain and Republic of Ireland.
During the year Dale Farm launched 47 new products and saw sales of it Dromona cheddar cheese and butter products increase by 22%. It won more than 30 international awards for its products. Sales of whey protein powder products, exported mainly to China, Germany and Holland, grew four fold.
The group has seven manufacturing locations including five in Northern Ireland, one in Scotland and one in England, producing dairy products which it sells across the UK and Ireland and exports to over 45 countries. It bought Fane Valley’s fresh milk business in January 2011, now integrated into its Dale Farm fresh milk and cream business.
