The company has been making forklift trucks in Craigavon since 1981, branded under the names of Hyster and Yale. Current production levels are around 13,000 forklifts annually.
The American-owned company has recently restructured its operations in Craigavon, exiting the production of internal combustion forklifts for the American market and beginning the manufacture of electric products for the European, Middle Eastern and African markets. That resulted in more than 90 redundancies at its Craigavon facility.
The Craigavon plant will continue to be the source of the internal combustion products in the 1.6–5.5 tonne range for Europe, the Middle East and Africa. The plant is the largest of five Nacco Materials Handling plant in Europe.
