Latest results show that across the UK the Royal Mail Group saw its operating profit jump to £144m in the first six months of the 2012/2013 financial year.
Leading the way was the letters and parcels division which turned last year’s £41m loss into a £99m profit, paving the way for a possible flotation later this year.
Last year in Northern Ireland the company has invested some £12 million in new sorting automation at the Northern Ireland Mail Centre and in new and more modern delivery kit, such as high capacity delivery trolleys, for delivery postmen.
Turnover here is estimated to have climbed by £10m while headcount is up around 200.
