Lagan Construction is a major international civil engineering and building contractor headquartered in Belfast. The company, a private family business established in 1962 by Peter Lagan, focuses on civil engineering and building solutions for roads, airports, water, energy, marine and building projects throughout the UK, Ireland and worldwide.
It has also worked extensively in the roads sector, as the main road construction contractors on traditional schemes or as a partner on larger design and construct projects, whether frameworks or Public Private Partnerships (PPPs). In the last 10 years Lagan Construction has delivered 500km of new roads throughout Ireland the UK, Jamaica and Puerto Rico.
Lagan Construction’s Airports Division works on airside and landside rehabilitation and improvement projects, having laid in excess of six million tonnes of asphalt and concrete in delivering more than 40 airport contracts worldwide. The company has recently completed contracts at Edinburgh Airport (Contract Value: £4.3m), Benazir Bhutto International Airport in Islamabad, Pakistan (Contract Value: £156m), Lungi International Airport in Freetown, Sierra Leone (Contract Value: £8m) and Ronald Reagan Washington National Airport, USA (Contract Value: £8.7m).
It also works in the design and construction of water distribution and collection networks having laid over 1,700km of pipeline in the last 10 years.
Major projects currently being undertaken include: upgrading the A8 Belfast to Larne dual carriageway (Contract Value: £100m); the NIW water mains rehabilitation framework (Contract Value: £10m pa); rehabilitation and reconstruction of the existing airfield pavements at Guernsey Airport (Contract Value: £80m); the design and build of two Energy from Waste (EfW) plants at Ipswich (Contract Value: £45m) and Cardiff (Contract Value: £50m); and installation of the new Edinburgh Trams system (Contract Value: £10m).
