Founded in 1976 by brothers Jim and Jack Dobson, Dunbia has grown to become an established multinational food company operating across ten sites in the UK and Ireland and from sales offices throughout Europe. Headquartered in Dungannon, it supplies beef, lamb and pork products to retail and foodservice customers.

Formerly known as Dungannon Meats, Dunbia employs 3,069 people across a wide range of high-tech and multi-skilled disciplines: 1,170 are employed in Northern Ireland and last year alone over £290,000 was invested in training at the company’s Dungannon and Ballymena plants, highlighting the importance Dunbia places on continually developing the skills of its staff.

The group acquired Dunbia (Preston) from Kepak and Dunbia (Elgin) from Rhinds of Eglin in 2007 before going on to buy Stevenson’s & Co pork facility in Cullybackey in 2009 and Heathfield Foods in Crewe.

Dunbia puts effort into creative product development and following the company’s successful launch into the sausage market two years ago, it has become a specialist in this area winning ‘Britain’s Best Sausage’ in 2011.

It sources meat from more than 2,500 local producers and its service levels have all been recognised by winning several industry awards in the last twelve months including the prestigious title of ‘Processor of the Year’ and ‘Best for sourcing with Integrity’.
