Turnover: £31.3m

Pre-tax profit: £1.8m

Belfast International Airport handled more than 4m passengers in 2010 and also completed a £10m revamp of terminal facilities, which was opened by HM The Queen.

The redevelopment and reconfiguration project saw the provision of new access to a more spacious security search along with a completely remodelled retail mall and facilities.

The goal was to make better use of space and open up the ‘airside’ area with viewing areas overlooking the apron.

EasyJet continues to be the largest carrier at the airport, alongside Aer Lingus, Jet2.com, Continental Airlines, Thomas Cook and Thomson. The airport is continuing to improve access for people across Northern Ireland and beyond — providing essential connections to Great Britain, access to critical global hubs including London and New York, and holiday options for the entire family.

Despite the economic recession, air cargo activity remained relatively constant at just under 50,000 tonnes.
