Premier Power is the largest independent generating company in Ireland, operating Ballylumford Power Station, one of the largest generating sites Northern Ireland and the Republic.

For over 60 years, Ballylumford has provided electricity for Northern Ireland’s businesses, schools, hospitals and homes. It generates around 50% of Northern Ireland’s total generating capacity.

The company is situated on the north-western tip of Islandmagee in Co Antrim, opposite Larne at the mouth of Larne Lough, Premier Power Limited is a big employer in the East Antrim area. In 2003 Premier opened the first new power station in 25 years in the province when it developed a £200m combined cycle gas turbine generating plant.
