AN east Belfast Woman has celebrated her 100th birthday in true Lady-like style.
Lady Doris Bateman, a resident at Kirk House residential home in Dundonald, was joined by friends, family and neighbours for the celebration.
Mr Bateman had a prestigious career as Secretary of the Cabinet to Prime Minister Terence O'Neill and then Head of the Civil Service before he was knighted in 1967.
As her favourite pastime is visiting tea rooms and coffee shops at every given opportunity, both her family and Kirk House chose to celebrate with cake based parties.
The staff at Kirk House organised a party and tastefully decorated the lounge to reflect Lady Bateman's sense of style, with a birthday cake specially created over several weeks.
On the day of her birthday Lady Bateman's granddaughter delivered her to The Portaferry Hotel via a vintage car where a surprise afternoon tea party was held with 22 members of her family, some of whom had flown home for the event.
