Dannii has the X Factor when it comes to hair

Thursday, 8 April 2010

X Factor judge Dannii Minogue has the hair style most women in Northern Ireland would love to copy, according to a new survey.

And when it comes to the lads, local folk love the sleek style currently sported by Robbie Williams.

Newtownards hairdresser Sharon Malcolm, owner of Sharon Malcolm Hairdressing, carried out the survey to find which male and female celebrities have the most-loved hairstyles.

And although Robbie topped the poll amongst guys, he was followed closely by another sleek and smooth favourite, Hollywood superstar George Clooney.

But not many people love the currently-unkempt hairstyles of Brad Pitt and Russell Brand, with Russell alone securing just four percent of the vote.

Mum-to-be, and winner of the Best TV Star trophy at the Elle Style Awards, Dannii Minogue, topped the poll of favourite female hair styles, followed by her fellow judge, Cheryl Cole.

Singer Rihanna was another hit, thanks to her ever-changing crop, but Lady GaGa failed to impress locals, with just three percent saying they liked her look.

“Our survey found that people loved hair that was amazing and eye-catching, with a versatile yet manageable look, which Dannii clearly achieved with ease during the X Factor,” said Sharon.

“I think women all over the country are in love with Dannii’s hair because before now, I don't think they knew how versatile a bob could be.

“If Dannii’s larger than life quiffs are more up your street, then backcombing is the secret to your success.”

Why do we treat cyber crime so harshly, yet let thugs off lightly?

Andy Warhol famously predicted that there would come a time when everybody would be famous for 15 minutes. I have a counter-theory. There may come a time when everyone will be private for 15 minutes.

It's not just working class who are stuck in sectarian bunkers

There is a grim irony in DUP and Sinn Fein politicians warning about the dangers of sectarianism but Jonathan Bell and Martina Anderson were correct in saying that bigotry isn't just a working-class thing: "Many communities may not paint their kerb stones or put out flags, but scratch the surface and you find the prejudice and the hate whispered behind closed doors or joked about in golf clubs or over dinner parties."
