Natural Health Fair comes to town

Some of the biggest names in the field of natural health will be in Belfast this Sunday, November 8, for the sixth annual Northern Ireland Complementary Therapies and Natural Health Fair at the Ramada Hotel.

This year’s fair — open from 10.30am to 6.30pm — is set to be the biggest yet with more than 100 exhibitors and 14 workshops open to the public.

Among the high profile speakers will be Tony Humphreys, one of Ireland’s most influential psychologists, who will be giving a workshop on Society’s Seven Best Secrets.

And holistic psychologist Dr Susan Phoenix from Spain will give the Bill Longridge Memorial Happiness lecture this year.

As an author and intuitive healer, she believes that modern medical treatment is complimented by energy medicine and professionally trained therapists.

Another key workshop will be given by Dr Finbar Magee on Cancer and the Environment.

“This year we have workshops given by many new practitioners as well as those who have come back by popular demand,” explains fair organiser, Sonia Longridge.

“Spiritual facilitator Chrissie Astell is giving a workshop on Angels for healing, joy and inner peace, while Joanne Maguire will also be back to talk about expanding your own natural intuitive abilities.

“Both Chrissie and Joanne were hugely popular last year and we are delighted they are returning.

“The many exhibitors, ranging from acupuncture and kinesiology to hypnotherapy and life coaching, will offer free or much-reduced rates for ‘taster' sessions of the therapies they offer.”

There will also be live music, a ‘green living' section, crafts for Christmas and children’s activities.

Admission is £6 or free for the under 12s.

Tickets are available on the day at the Ramada, or in advance from Solstice in Holywood and Coleraine, and in the Omni Centre at the Ramada Hotel.

Admission to the talks/workshops costs extra and is payable at the door on a first-come first-served basis — all profits from the workshops go to charity.

Gritty, moving and heroic...Billy plays captured life here

It was the best of times, it was the worst of times ... Sunday's 30th anniversary screening of the seminal Too Late to Talk to Billy was riveting viewing. But it wasn't nostalgic viewing.

Parties need better defence in Stormont's game of two halves

Surprise, surprise. Peter Robinson has been to his first gaelic match, Martin McGuinness is heading for Windsor Park and the Ulster Unionists have scored another own goal.

Why trying to go on a diet is never really a piece of cake

Some people make New Year’s resolutions, I make lists. Every new year I determine to keep track of everything I spend and everything I eat and drink.

Scary movie? Their jaws were sore from laughing

Teenage boys love horror films and I have two who are in charge of the remote control in our house, so naturally there’s gore-a-plenty on the box most weekends. However, until recently one film was banned.
