Dancing stars are very n-ice

Monday, 10 May 2010

The stars of Dancing On Ice lit up the Odyssey Arena last night (Thursday, May 6).

Torvill and Dean's tour hit all the right notes for the packed Belfast venue.

The crowd lapped up the stunning moves and fantastic outfits.

The crowd may have mistakenly thought they were at the circus as the performers dazzled as clowns, horses and a ringmaster.

The top quality intro set the tone for the rest of the night.

Then the stars of the show: Torvill and Dean made their entrance over the heads of the dancers on a metal trapeze.

Then the competition kicked off...

Soap actor Ray Quinn and his professional partner had plenty of energy and wowed the judges, as did Boyzone star Mikey Graham and his.

Actress Emily Atack, with partner Fred Palascac, and sitcom star Clare Buckfield, with Lukasz Rozycki, didn't do as well.

The evening was slick and wonderfully choreographed.

The eventual winner was current champion Hayley Tamaddon, with partner Dan Whiston.

Gritty, moving and heroic...Billy plays captured life here

It was the best of times, it was the worst of times ... Sunday's 30th anniversary screening of the seminal Too Late to Talk to Billy was riveting viewing. But it wasn't nostalgic viewing.

Surprise, surprise. Peter Robinson has been to his first gaelic match, Martin McGuinness is heading for Windsor Park and the Ulster Unionists have scored another own goal.

Why trying to go on a diet is never really a piece of cake

Some people make New Year’s resolutions, I make lists. Every new year I determine to keep track of everything I spend and everything I eat and drink.

Scary movie? Their jaws were sore from laughing

Teenage boys love horror films and I have two who are in charge of the remote control in our house, so naturally there’s gore-a-plenty on the box most weekends. However, until recently one film was banned.
