Wine of the week
Alta Mira – Chile
Wednesday, 7 January 2009
This wine is a fresh Chardonnay with peach and lemon flavours and a lightly oaked finish.
Best served lightly chilled, this wine would complement chicken dishes or creamy pasta sauces. However, don’t keep this wine for too long as it may start to lose some of its vibrant, lively character.
A good guide is to open within six months of purchase, and once opened, finish within a couple of days, keeping the resealed bottle in the fridge.
The wine was made by Maurico Gonzalez from 100 percent Chardonnay grapes grown in the Central Valley region of Chile.
It was lightly oaked to add subtle extra creaminess and body.
