Wine of the week: Merlot Cabernet - Australian
Wednesday, 30 April 2008
Bancroft Bridge Merlot Cabernet is a fresh, everyday style of red with plenty of ripe dark fruit flavours and a gentle creamy texture.
This wine comes from the Riverina region known locally as Australia's fruit bowl, watered by the meandering Murrumbidge River that runs down the Snowy Mountains and is a warm, sunny area.
The flavours of this Merlot/Cabernet blend include black cherry and sun-baked herbs, with a soft creamy note on the finish and is best enjoyed at room temperature
Its clean, ripe fruit flavours will make a fine match for meat-based dishes such as crispy-skin duck with plum sauce or spicy venison sausages straight off the barbecue.
Available from M&S priced at £5.99.
