Local young people are picture perfect

A group of north Belfast young people done their best Van Gogh impressions recently to help create a colourful mural.
The youngsters from the Byte Project helped transform an entrance at St Kevin’s Hall.
The aim of the project is to help the young people from the age of 15 to 25 ‘move forward’ to training, further education or employment.
The youngsters drew inspiration from famous artists, such as Van Gogh, Salvador Dali, Henri Rousseau and Andy Warhol, to help create the masterpiece.
Through this project young people not only gained an insight into the work of inspirational artists, they gained new skills in painting techniques, team work and communication skills.
Several of the young people were able to use evidence of this project to help them gain a Bronze Youth Achievement Award.
Senior development officer at Bytes, Catriona Clifford, said: “This has been a major achievement for the group.
“They are taking a real interest in it and they are really pleased with what they have achieved.
“It has been a major accomplishment as some even gained a Bronze Youth Achievement Award.
“We are giving the young people the skills and training to get back into education or to get into employment.
“We are really delighted with how the mural looks — it really brightens the place up,” the development officer added.
The paint was donated by Nobletts, MRCB and Tony McManus Painting and Decorating.
