Support for Newtownabbey businesses

Newtownabbey Borough Council is to deliver a programme which will assist local businesses to identify and implement changes and break down barriers to growth and business success.

The Pilot Business Advancement Programme will work with seven businesses in the Borough to stimulate thinking, develop opportunities and implement projects to increase competitiveness, boost motivation, raise customer satisfaction and drive growth.

Each business will receive one to one support from professionals including a business audit, five in-company workshops, two coaching/mentoring sessions, an action plan and a workshop manual. It is hoped that each firm will see a minimum of 5% increase in sales within a year.

The Council has also approved support for the Talking Retail programme. It aims to provide 20 local retailers with mentoring support and access to retail master classes. This will help retailers to solve business problems and enhance competition.

Each will receive:

-amp;#8226; A Business Audit

-amp;#8226; Access to a Mystery Shop

-amp;#8226; A minimum of three days one to one mentoring support

-amp;#8226; A minimum of three half day Retail Survival workshops/masterclasses

-amp;#8226; A Retail Improvement Plan
