Fair wind for Dee SC

Donaghadee Sailing Club is to benefit from funding of more £3K from Ards Borough Council.

The club will use the grant aid to fund 50% of the costs of buying two GP14 Sailing Dinghies, with associated equipment, including buoyancy aids and wetsuits, after successfully applying for financial support through the Council's Sports Capital Grant Programme.

Councillor Robert Adair, chair of the Council Services Committee, says: "This funding helps to extend the Club's ability to promote sailing to those who don't necessarily have the means to buy and maintain their own boats, as well as helping others to try the sport out before investing in equipment.

Club Commodore, Shirley McCrum said: "With the Council's continuing commitment, the Club continues to grow and expand its range of courses and events (see www.donaghadeesc.co.uk) along with the well-established Friday Night 'Come & Try It' sessions open to all from age 7 to 17".
