Civic Endeavour Awards launched

The Civic Endeavour Awards in North Down have been launched for 2010.

The awards allow local residents to identify individuals who are making an exceptional contribution to the local community.

“Many people in North Down work hard to help others and to make our community a better place in which to live,” Mayor of North Down Councillor Tony Hill said.

“We want to recognise the unsung heroes and heroines in our borough.”

Nominations for the awards can be made under several categories.

These include: voluntary community work, service to the public, humanitarian services, service to the arts and the environment and young person of the year award.

Guidance on each category and nomination forms can be collected from the Town Hall, received by post (please ring 028 9127 0371), by email at enquiries@northdown.gov.uk or completed on the council's website at www.northdown.gov.uk from Monday, January 19.

The closing date for completed nominations is noon on Friday, February 12.
