Firms seek new markets

Two North Down firms, Glastry Foods and McWhinneys Butchers, are among the 14 food and drink companies being assisted by Invest Northern Ireland to expand exports at two international shows.

Eight companies will be at CATEX, a catering equipment and supplies exhibition which takes place in Dublin from February 8 to February 10, seven of which will be taking part in CATEX for the first time.

At Gulfood in Dubai, seven companies will be showing their products from February 27 to March 2. “More than 9,000 decision makers are expected to attend the show which will also feature over 200 leading companies. Statistics show that 50% of visitors attend to source new products and that 87% have responsibility for purchasing products and services’’; said Dr Vicky Kelly, Invest NI Trade Director.

The events are among 10 food export-focused initiatives in international markets organised by Invest NI.

Dr Kelly concluded:

“Gulfood has become an immensely important international show that is expected to attract 60,000 buyers from over 150 countries who will have an opportunity to examine products and services at 3,500 stands from over 80 nations.’’
