Holywood girls eye up model prize

Holywood girls Clodagh Rice and Ruaidhiri Donaghy are in the frame to win a top modelling contract.

They are among almost 200 hopefuls competing for a place in the regional final of Spectacle Wearer of the Year 2008.

Clodagh and Ruaidhiri will join six other specs wearing fashionistas from across Northern Ireland at the semi-final on Thursday, August 21 at the Specsavers store in the Abbeycentre, Newtownabbey.

If successful, Clodagh and Ruaidhiri could find themselves strutting down the catwalk at the glitzy, celebrity-studded grand final in London on Tuesday, October 21. At the international event, contestants will be judged by a panel of industry experts and Specsavers style ambassador and Channel 4 presenter, Gok Wan.

Ruaidhiri said: “I am completely shocked to have been chosen to go through to the Northern Ireland semi-final as I didn’t think I stood a chance. It is a dream come true.”

Clodagh added: “I am over the moon to have been chosen from the hundreds of entrants and would love to win the opportunity to represent Northern Ireland in the international final in London.”

This year’s grand final winner will receive a 12-month modelling contract with top London agency — MOT models — and the chance to appear in a Specsavers advertising campaign.

The sexy specs wearer will also win a two-week all-inclusive holiday for two in St Lucia or Barbados, as well as hair and beauty products from Matrix and Benefit cosmetics, and eyecare from Specsavers.
