Auntie Anne's Pretzels is to open two new stores in Bangor and Ards, it has been announced.

As the world's largest hand-rolled soft pretzel chain, the chain will open a total of seven outlets across Northern Ireland with the creation of 100 new jobs.

The leading American brand was actually introduced to Ireland by Bangor businessman Stephen Downey, who successfully grew the Downey’s Volkswagen brand for ten years.

Stephen holds the Auntie Anne’s ‘Franchisee’ across the island of Ireland and has taken the decision to extend following a highly successful pilot in Castle Court Shopping Centre in Belfast.

“We are absolutely delighted with our first year of trading,” Stephen said.

“The brand has been tried and tested and the response to the product has been fantastic.

We are also finding that they have been a hit with tourists who are enjoying the novelty and convenience of trying one as they tour Bangor and Ards.”
