North Down DPP host event for Bangor Senior Gateway

The recent DPP meeting was attended by many dignitaries

North Down District Policing Partnership (DPP) has met with members of Bangor Senior Gateway at a safety event for people with learning disabilities.

The event involved the PSNI, the NI Fire and Rescue Service and Home Accident Prevention.

Speaking at the event, which took place on May 7, chair of North Down DPP, Councillor Marion Smith, said: “The DPP are delighted to be working with Bangor Senior Gateway Club, an organisation that brings so much to many families and residents across North Down.

“I would like to extend our thanks to the agencies involved for taking time to attend and ensure that all the residents of North Down know how to protect themselves.”

Bangor Senior Gateway Club co-ordinator Joe Brown said: “Bangor Senior Gateway has been in operation for over 30 years and we have over 125 members ranging from 18 to 60.

“This event was fun and informative for all the club members.

“It was great for them to meet their local police officers and learn how to keep themselves safe.”

Gateway member Jennifer Duncan said: “They told us different things about safety and the police were wonderful.”
