Praise for Praxis

Strangford DUP MLA Simon Hamilton this week spent some time visiting local charities operated by Praxis.

Praxis have been providing care to adults and children with a learning disability, mental ill health, acquired brain injury and dementia all over Northern Ireland for over 25 years.

Mr Hamilton met with Praxis Chief Executive Nevin Ringland and visited Beechfield Children's Respite Centre in Conlig and Kimberley House in Newtownards.

Praxis’s first mental health scheme opened in Newtownards just over 25 years ago and today they still employ over 100 people in the area.

Despite their significant presence in the Ards community many people are unaware of the work they do.

“I was keen to both see the outstanding work they do for children and families with care needs and young adults with challenging behaviour and also highlight the excellent work Praxis and their staff does in our town,“ he added.

Along with Trinity Housing association, Praxis help young people in the community suffering from learning disabilities life an independent life they strive to live.
