88 new kitchens for Lower Ormeau

(L-r) Francie Brown of the Housing Executive, resident Margaret Lagan, Seana Hippsley of PK Murphy Contractors, and Anne Mathers of the Housing Executive

Brand new kitchens are being installed in 88 homes in the Lower Ormeau area, at a cost to the Housing Executive of almost £400,000.

Work will be phased out and should take around five months to complete.

Margaret Lagan is one of the lucky residents who has already had her kitchen installed and she’s delighted with the outcome.

“The old kitchen has been in the house for ages so it’s lovely to have a nice, new modern one — it’s like something out of a magazine,” she said.

“The extra sockets and cooker hood also make a big difference and the fact that I was able to choose my own cupboards and worktops was the icing on the cake. I would also like to say a big thank you to the Housing Executive and the workmen, who were brilliant.”
