Botanic Food and music festival 2009 launched

Local chefs taking part in the festival get their instruments at the ready

The Belfast Taste and Music Fest 09 at Botanic Gardens has been launched.

Local chefs will welcome chefs from Chicago at the event taking place from Thursday, August 6, to Sunday, August 9, where they will be cooking and celebrating local food.

Chefs from Belfast, including Michael Deane of Deanes, Tony O’Neill of The Merchant Hotel, Paul Catterson of Bourbon, and Alan Higginson of No. 27 Talbot Street, are set to participate in the culinary event.

A spokesperson for the festival said: “Fourteen of Chicago’s finest chefs will swap the ‘Windy’ city for Belfast city when they come to join these, and other top local chefs in Botanic Gardens, for what will be the largest al fresco restaurant in town.

“Visitors can look forward to a boulevard of restaurants where they can indulge in world-class culinary delights as well as celebrating great local food.

“In addition to the fantastic food, visitors can also experience superb culinary and cocktail demonstrations and a great line-up of staged live entertainment, including Rumours of Fleetwood Mac, Classic Clapton, Flash Harry and Peter Corry to name a few, as well as the Strictly Come Dancing band and dancers Camilla Dallerup and Ian Waite.”
