The rise to fame for a band that started playing together at friends’ parties in south Belfast has been epic for the musical trio that to this day still don’t have a manager.

At the personal request of Snow Patrol’s lead singer Gary Lightbody, the electro-folk band Cat Malojian, who wrote a heavy bundle of songs in Finaghy, will be supporting Snow Patrol’s massive homecoming gig at Ward park in Bangor next Saturday, June 5.

Stephen Scullion who writes the lyrics said: “Late last year Gary Lightbody reviewed our second album Dawn Chorus in Q magazine —the title track of which I wrote when I lived in Finaghy. I sent him an email to thank him, and kept in contact.

“Things were mentioned about supporting them, but I didn’t know it was really happening until a journalist from Croatia phoned me to congratulate me. Yes it’s hard to take in how far we have come.”
