Members of staff atDunmurray Dental Practice have urged people in Northern Ireland to join them and support the Marie Curie Cancer charity in the 2011 Deep RiverRock Belfast City Marathon.
The marathon takes place on May Day Bank Holiday — Monday, May 2.
Marie Curie Cancer Care says it is overwhelmed that members of staff from the dental practice — Debbie McLorinan, Maria Nolan, Joanne Coleman, Edel Hughes and Tracey Campbell — have kicked off the call out for others to run in behalf of the charity and hopefully gain the same level of support as before.
The money raised last year provided 15,000 hours of high quality nursing care that Marie Curie nurses provide at the Belfast Hospice and in local communities free of charge, which gives terminally ill patients the choice of dying at home with the support of their families.
Debbie McLorinan, in support of Marie Curie Cancer, said: “Even if you are not a practised runner, on seeing first-hand the tireless work that the Marie Curie nurses do, I feel that many of you will be compelled to dust off your trainers and run in the Belfast Marathon to help raise vital funds that can further their service.’’
Dunmurray Dental Practice has been long standing supporters of Marie Curie Cancer with the family owners and their staff taking part in the many events on offer every year.
Principal dentist and owner, Philip McLorinan said: ‘’We hope that as many people as possible will join the girls and put on their running shoe for Marie Curie Cancer and if you can’t take part by running I would encourage people to come together to sponsor and cheer on people for the charity.
“We will be collecting at the surgery and of course there on the day to cheer them on.’’
