New social housing purchase gets the go-ahead

Social housing in south Belfast has received a boost after a local housing association was given permission to buy 42 apartments for use by social housing tenants.

The Housing Executive has given Clanmill Housing Association the go-ahead to purchase the apartments at the Curzon development, on the site of the old cinema on the Ormeau Road.

A Northern Ireland Housing Executive spokeswoman said: “The Housing Executive can confirm that, due to the housing need in this part of south Belfast, approval was given for Clanmil Housing Association to purchase 42 apartments in the Curzon development.

“The properties will be allocated in accordance with the Housing Selection Scheme.”
