A south Belfast student has said his planned attempt to climb Mount Kilimanjaro will be a “once in a lifetime experience”.

Harry McCammond from Belvoir is to travel to Tanzania this August with 24 of his university classmates to raise funds for the Childreach International charity.

The 20-year-old has already raised £800 through a coffee morning, and plans to hold another charity event this June by hosting a concert.

The student — who has no previous climbing experience — attends St Andrew’s University in Scotland where he studies Greek and Latin.

Harry was inspired to make the 19,000ft climb when he heard about the trip through his friends.

He said: “This is a big challenge for me, it’s a once in a lifetime experience and I’m really excited.”
