Festival diary

Festival director Graeme Farrow is in a bit of a daze.

He’s just learned more than 10,000 tickets were sold for the opening weekend. “I’ve never known anything quite like it,” he said. If audiences continue to flock to shows between now and October 30, we’ll need to dig out the smelling-salts for the hard-working brains behind this year’s programme.

Not many festivals can boast a boat as a venue. This Belfast barge will have played host to dancers and musicians throughout festival fortnight. The recently restored The Confiance also doubles up as a permanent maritime exhibition, making up part of a display which celebrates the history of the Lagan.
