Despite having had just four days to rehearse and a morning to set the stage, Belfast's Music Theatre 4 Youth pulled off a terror-ific adaptation of Little Shop of Horrors last night.
The Waterfront Studio theatre was packed for what was described by director Mariano Detry in his introduction as a “dress rehearsal”.
But all the elements were in place: good singing, committed performances and a magnificent, full-size, man-eating plant.
The cult 1960s-set musical is a guaranteed crowd-pleaser.
It was nice to see the young cast revel in the edgier, more macabre moments. None of the cast of 50 sold themselves short.
