No safe seats to be had in a wealth of anarchy

Adam Riches, The White Room

Comic Adam Riches rolled into town with his gallery of grotesque characters, a gaggle of terrified punters upon which to work his sinister comedy magic.

By night's end, those of us that hadn't been picked out to French kiss with Daniel Day Lewis, play mastermind with a catheter-bagged madman or get to super-soak the arse of a giant lizard were perhaps feeling more than a little relieved.

During the insane whirl through a portmanteau of interactive sketches, the number of mortified audience members was only doubled by the number of clenched buttocks on seats. How to describe the show? Well, think Hammer Horror meets Harry Hill in an advanced improv workshop with a couple of super soakers thrown in for good measure.

Everyone came away touched, some literally, with the memory of the dread words “like the starlings do” ringing in their ears.

A lively, fun show and intrepid festival goers were subjected to the embarrassment of Riches.
