Where?
Thyme, 319 Antrim Road, Glengormley.
Atmosphere?
A petite but bright and airy little spot right in the middle of the hustle and bustle of 'downtown' Glengormley. It consists of several tables, some by the large-ish front window, although the view is limited by the busy traffic!
Crowd?
On this particular Saturday it's mostly locals enjoying a brunch or lunch. A smattering of older people and one or two young couples and lone diners. The place is also popular with the lunchtime crowd from the local shops and businesses.
Menu?
A good enough selection of scones, buns and sandwiches, along with the ubiquitous Soup of the Day. They also do specials, such as chicken and sweetcorn pie on this particular day.
What did we have?
I plumped for the homemade burger, which came with salad, coleslaw and fries. My other half went for a chicken fajita, which was served with wedges and some sour cream and salsa dips.
Disability access?
It's at street level, although there is a step at the front, and the doorway did seem a little narrow. Once inside, however, there's a good deal of room to move around.
The verdict?
The food's not bad and nicely presented by a helpful waitress. My burger bun was a little on the dry side, however, and needed a fair bit of ketchup. The fajita, I'm told, was 'okay', and the wedges were very crispy and tasty. The stringy fries were pretty good too.

Homemade burger £5.95; Chicken fajita £5.95; Caffe latte £1.75; Soft drink £0.85. TOTAL: £14.50.
Last word?
It's a testament to the popularity of this place that it's managed to keep going amidst the urban sprawl of Glengormley and that patrons are prepared to park a brisk walk away (or risk the attentions of a traffic warden) to partake of its delights. Give it a look-in next time you're passing.
