Warrenpoint Traditional Music Feis

Tin whistle sections were included on the opening day of the Warrenpoint Traditional Music Feis in the Town Hall.











Results

Tin whistle solo, under-12 yrs: 1 and Jubilee Perpetual Challenge Cup, Cathal Murphy; 2 tie, Cliodhna Quinn and Anna Mae Ryan.

Traditional fiddle solo, under-12 yrs: 1 and Arthur O'Loughlin Perpetual Challenge Cup, tie, Niamh Taffe, Dundalk and Cliodhna Quinn, Rostrevor.

Traditional accordion solo, under-12 yrs: 1, Michael Muckian, Crossmaglen; 2, Aine McParland, Jonesborough.

Traditional instrument duet, under-14 yrs: 1, Matthews Duet, Camlough; 2, Ring of Gullion.

Tin whistle solo, under-15 yrs: 1, Michael Mallon; 2, Laura Matthews.

Tin whistle solo, under-9 yrs: 1, Michael McCahill; 2, Leona McCahill.

Fiddle solo, under-9 yrs: 1, Meabh McArdle, Warrenpoint; 2, Kieran Lennon, Dundalk.

Traditional fiddle solo, under-15 yrs: 1 and Patrick Guiney Memorial Cup, tie, Laura McGrath and Laura Matthews; 2, Claire O'Callaghan.



The Matthews family had already won the traditional instrument under-14 years duet class at the Warrenpoint Traditional Music Feis in the Town Hall when they increased their numbers by one to win the traditional instrumental trio, under-16 years.

Traditional instrumental trio, under-16 yrs: 1 and Raffles Perpetual Challenge Cup, The Matthews Trio, Camlough; 2, Laura McGrath, Aoife Quinn and Shane McCartan, Rinn Mhic Giolla Rua CCE, Warrenpoint.

Irish traditional or folk group, instrumental, confined to schools, under-18 yrs: 1, St Paul's High School, Bessbrook; 2, St Louis Grammar School, Kilkeel.

Irish traditional or folk group, under-18 yrs: 1 and Warrenpoint Feis Plaque, Rinn Mhic Giolla Rua CCE Junior Group, Warrenpoint.

Traditional flute solo, under-15 yrs: 1, Ciara McParland, Lislea.

Traditional fiddle solo, under-18 yrs: 1 and President Cup, Nial Murphy, St Paul's, Bessbrook; 2, Stephen Murphy, Rinn Mhic Giolla Rua CCE Junior Group, Warrenpoint.

Traditional piano accordion or traditional button accordion solo, under-18 yrs: 1 and Cathal McAnulty Perpetual Challenge Cup, Sinead O'Callaghan, Rinn Mhic Giolla Rua CCE, Warrenpoint; 2, John Keenan, Jonesborough.
