Aaron Eckhart: Fame opens doors
Aaron Eckhart has admitted he would like to be more famous - because it would help him make the films he wants.
The actor, 45, has numerous credits to his name, including Batman reboot The Dark Knight, In The Company Of Men, Erin Brockovich and The Pledge, but has never become a household name.
"That stuff [fame] sounds like a distraction but it's kind of like the stuff that allows people to put down 10 million dollars, 20 million dollars [to make a movie]," he said.
Aaron, who stars as a US President in new movie Olympus Has Fallen, wants to direct and is actively looking for the right project.
The Golden Globe-nominated actor said: "I'm not so keen on working for other people's point of view and vision any more. I want to do my own thing and be responsible for my own performance.
"I have a saying: 'I can make a bad movie as good as anyone', so that's what I'm going to go do."
Olympus Has Fallen is released in cinemas on Wednesday, April 17.
